What Are The Child Labor Laws In Texas?

The Child Labor Laws of Texas apply to all of the employees (of 17 years and under). After an individual reaches the age of 18 they are deemed as an adult. The already placed laws that concern this make sure that no child of 17 and under is working jobs that jeopardize their safety and health.

The already set laws make sure that a child is not in any kind of job which could harm their safety, well-being, and health of the child.

Imposed Regulations

Here are a few examples of the already set rules and regulations that fall in alignment with the Texas Child Labor Laws:

  • For the first ninety days of a minor’s employment, they are to be given a min. wage of $4.25 hourly.
  • People who are under the age of 18 are banned from working in potentially hazardous environments.
  • The total working hours of the minors cannot exceed eight hours in a single day. They also cannot work for more than a total time of 48 hours in a single week.
